AI-native business operating system for African small businesses
Small business owners often manage quotes, invoices, expenses, inventory and customer records across WhatsApp, notebooks, spreadsheets and disconnected tools. This creates unnecessary administrative work and makes it harder to understand the state of the business.
I built Quotla to bring these workflows into one platform, starting with quoting and invoicing and expanding toward broader business management. I conducted user research to understand friction across B2B and B2C workflows, then designed and engineered a document management system with automated tax logic, multi-currency support and AI-assisted content generation.
The product is now live and has evolved toward a more ambitious direction: an AI-native business assistant that allows owners to complete business tasks conversationally, including through WhatsApp.
Outcome Reduced manual work around business documentation, created a scalable foundation for broader financial and operational workflows, and validated a product direction around making business management accessible to non-technical users.

Adversarial Attacks on RAG-based Large Language Models
AI Security & Evaluation Research
Retrieval-Augmented Generation improves the reliability of language models by grounding responses in external information, but the retrieval and generation pipeline can still be manipulated by adversarial inputs.
For my undergraduate research, I investigated how adversarial text perturbations could affect a RAG system's ability to retrieve relevant information and maintain semantic integrity. I developed a hybrid retrieval pipeline combining FAISS vector search and TF-IDF keyword retrieval, followed by cross-encoder reranking and FLAN-T5 answer generation.
I then introduced adversarial transformations such as synonym substitution and word deletion, developed an Adversarial Risk Index and additional similarity measures to evaluate the resulting changes, and built an interactive Gradio interface for testing normal and adversarial responses.
Outcome Produced a modular RAG security evaluation system that made adversarial behaviour measurable and observable. The work established the technical foundation for my broader interest in AI security, evaluation and governance.

Testifi
Building safer digital spaces for personal testimony and community stories
Sharing personal experiences online can create tension between community participation, privacy and personal control. Testifi was built around the idea of giving people a structured space to share testimonies while retaining greater control over how their stories are presented.
I conducted user and market research, synthesised more than 40 qualitative responses and translated the findings into the product roadmap. Working with the design team, I also reworked onboarding around accessibility and then helped build the functional MVP using TypeScript, Supabase and Claude Code.
Outcome The MVP attracted more than four dozen active users within its first week and created a feedback loop for validating the product's core assumptions through real user behaviour.

Turning responsible AI principles into practical engineering controls
As AI systems move into products and institutional workflows, governance cannot stop at broad principles. Teams need practical ways to identify risks, evaluate systems and establish controls before and after deployment.
I have been developing a practical AI governance approach that connects technical AI security with frameworks including the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, EU AI Act and OWASP guidance for LLM applications. My focus is on translating governance requirements into things engineering and product teams can actually implement: risk assessment, data governance, security controls, evaluation, human oversight, documentation, monitoring and incident response.
This work builds directly on my research into adversarial RAG systems and my experience building AI-enabled products.
Outcome Now applied in contract AI regulatory research for an AI governance company.

BlueSky Scraper
Data infrastructure for social and policy intelligence
Researchers and analysts often need access to public discourse data without building a new collection system for every source. I built BlueSky Scraper as a lightweight, modular FastAPI service for collecting and analysing social and institutional data.
The system supports keyword-based searches, pagination, rate limiting, deduplication and incremental data storage, while remaining structured for deployment as either a standalone backend or microservice. Although it began with Bluesky, the architecture was designed to support additional sources such as news, YouTube and other platforms.
Outcome Created reusable data infrastructure that can support research, monitoring, analytics and policy intelligence rather than a single-purpose scraping workflow.

People need ways to report sensitive issues without exposing themselves to unnecessary risk. Safe Signal explored how a digital product could support anonymous reporting while maintaining a usable experience for both reporters and organisations receiving reports.
As product manager, I helped define the product direction, prioritise capabilities and shape development timelines around the needs identified through user and market discovery.
Outcome Established a product foundation for anonymous reporting with privacy and trust treated as core product considerations rather than secondary features.
